I’ve grown tired of constraints and monotony Do you know what I mean? I don’t know how much longer I can take it Trying to fit inside this ennui I’m growing restless, I’m going insane From all these thoughts bouncing around inside my brain I’m wondering if you’re feeling the same Pray tell, give me some insight Because You’re the one thing that I’ve found That’s keeping me in this town I wanna sweep you off your feet and fly us both away From all these people who will at best ignore us I see two choices here before us We can pretend To be content Or we can steer fate with our own hands Just fantasizing It gives me butterflies And I want to see this plan through Because I feel endorphins rushing deep inside of me I wanna start a new adventure with you We may crash land, but in the end I’ll be Somewhere in air suspended there with you Mountains In the distance Sacred Offerings Avian fauna Curiously start approaching Our eyes Meet through plant life Chase me Around a tree Kiss me In the light of endless fading galaxies You know we’ve come so far To get to where we are I know it’s ‘bout to get hard But I’m ready to stare down any challenge with you We weren’t content Playing pretend I’m glad we took fate in our own hands Our fantasies evolving endlessly I want to see this plan through while I feel endorphins rushing deep inside of me Happy I’m on a new adventure with you If we crash land, it’s okay ‘cause I’ll be Somewhere in air suspended there with you I struggle to know Where the solar winds blow My circuits they’re so overloaded With passion for you And to see you at ease As alien birds sing Makes it hard for this planet’s rings To contain my elation What are you thinking babe Inside your neon brain? ‘Cause I’m ready to lose myself inside this world we’ve come to share I’m in the air Suspended there I’m in the air Suspended there I’m in the air Suspended there I’m in the air Suspended there With you I feel endorphins rushing deep inside of me Happy I’m on a new adventure with you If we crash land, it’s okay ‘cause I’ll be Somewhere in air suspended there with you I feel endorphins rushing deep inside of me Happy I’m on a new adventure with you If we crash land, it’s okay ‘cause I’ll be Somewhere in air suspended there with you

In the shadow of the trees Her green eyes glowed Time and space yielding to her presence She gave me her hand and led us through the fog To reveal what lie beyond the stars

about

The kind of artists we are most drawn to are those using their craft to realize whole worlds and tell a story, however big or small. And there is perhaps no better embodiment of that quality than the Lunar Femmes, a cosmic duo of highly talented musicians, whose album “Santuario del Bosque” serves as a fascinating example of their skills.

It's hard to resist following them along on their journey through the fantasy world they have created: What starts out in the cold vastness of space as a seemingly post-apocalyptic science-fiction story quickly turns into a paradisiac narrative on a lushly vegetated alien planet, with a resolution that's left entirely to each listener's imagination.

Along the way they will discover that each checkpoint on that journey holds something new and unexpected: “Landing on Mazone” introduces us to this mystical setting, through playful synths and powerful melodies inspired just as much by jazz-fusion and progressive rock as by video game music. But through tracks like “Forest Shrine” and “Rest” this place also holds the promise of experiencing the tranquil beauty of the forest, enchanted by ethereal pads and the frills, bleeps and bloops one might recognize from Japanese environmental music.

Whatever place the Lunar Femmes are planning to take us next, we are along for the ride!

From the original liner notes:

The final memories of a dead civilisation drift aimlessly through countless systems; the history, culture and ideology of a long dead empire entrusted to be preserved and passed on by a construct of steel and precious metals. For the first time in millennia, the small, heavily damaged vessel powers on. A Gaia-class planet with intelligent life is detected and the ship, with its sole occupant on-board, is launched past the vibrant world's rings to enter the thick atmosphere.

After a near fatal landing, the being emerges from its slumber and is greeted by the planet's richly diverse ecosystem. The world's dense forests and idyllic arrays of wildflowers teem with life and a sense of purpose blossoms within a cold alloy chest. Tall trees and expansive mountains reach out across an endless horizon, a scale and beauty the likes of which have never before been seen by the lonely automaton.

As the distant sun fades behind the impossible peaks and rings that surround the planet, the automata powers down, giving the curious avian fauna a chance to observe the sleeping alien. It reawakens to a joyous cacophony of song, flowers in bloom and a potent pollen thick in the air. The planet and its inhabitants have invited the visitor to join in their celebration, their community and their way of life.

After drifting for an eon, the exiled being abandons its programmed mission of preserving its creators' past and chooses to start a new adventure on its own …
