When newcomer Days of Blue was asked to contribute a set to the second edition of S L U S H W A V E, the biggest online festival dedicated to the genre off-shoot, he decided that instead of submitting some of his already existing material, he would try to develop his own unique take on it. Slushwave mainstay desert sand feels warm at night, who had invited him to participate in the event, had made a huge impression with his sample-free approach and so the Californian artist set out to find his own sound of self-sampled slushwave.

The result of this process is a set of five emotionally laden slushwave gems, unlike most of what the scene has to offer. Each track seems to tell a different tale of longing and heartbreak, revelling in a clean sound of synthesized ambience, reducing the slushwave hallmarks of filters and reverb to crystal clarity. It's impressive to realize that none of it is sampled from existing music.

The beauty of this set did not go unnoticed on day two of the online festival: viewers and hosts alike celebrated the experience, flooding the chat with blue heart emojis to show their adoration. Inextricably linked to the success of the set are videographer Hydra ヒドラ's lush visuals, which added another narrative level to the whole thing. It's uploaded here in its full uncut form exclusively.
